Dawn Dish Soap

I don’t know about anyone else, but does your kid use their clothes as a napkin? Collar, sleeve, or the front of the shirt—nothing is safe. I’ve spent way too much money on stain sticks and sprays, only to discover that my real best friend is Dawn dish soap.

I actually came to understand this a few years ago while helping my mom with laundry after she had shoulder surgery. Everyone has their own way of doing laundry, and I wanted to follow her method exactly. I’ll admit, I was super skeptical. In my head, I was convinced the washing machine would be overflowing with bubbles—very dramatic, I know. But lo and behold, stubborn grease stains, blood, and other tough stains came right out. Just like that.

I guess it makes sense when you think about it—after all, the commercials show baby ducklings being cleaned with it. I’ve grown to love simpler ways of cleaning and doing things, especially when they don’t involve questionable chemicals/products. Sometimes it feels like I’m going back to my grandparents’ days, relying on simple, tried-and-true home remedies—and honestly, I’m not mad about it.
