Google Workspace
Google has become one of my go-to tools for staying organized while constantly on the move. Having access to the same information and documents from both my computer and my phone is a huge advantage. Maybe I’m dating myself, but being able to log into one account and instantly access everything—anywhere—still feels like a game changer.
As a soccer coach, organization is essential. Questions come up constantly via text and email, especially when coordinating indoor soccer. It’s up to the coaches to manage player payments, schedules, and communication. Using Google Docs and Sheets makes this process much easier. I can create templates for wording or use Sheets to track payments, then quickly copy and paste information into emails or text messages without having to recreate anything. I can also easily update payments or reference the Google Sheet to confirm details when questions come up.
On the dance side, I use Google simply as a parent to stay organized and share information with family and friends. Competition schedules can be overwhelming, so creating a Google Doc template allows me to easily share times and locations without forwarding multiple emails, text messages, or screenshots—just simple copy and paste. When changes happen, I can update one document and then quickly share the updated information with those who need it.
I’ll admit, I’m a longtime fan of Microsoft Excel and Word, but Google’s accessibility makes a big difference. When I’m working with larger spreadsheets or documents, I can always convert Google Sheets or Docs into Excel or Word files if needed. That flexibility is incredibly helpful.
My kids’ school also uses Google for everything, which I can easily access through my account. Google Calendar is truly my lifeline. Being able to color-code school events, soccer games, dance competitions, and family commitments/appointments in one shared calendar helps both my husband and me see our schedule at a glance. While being constantly connected can feel exhausting, having everything organized in one place reduces stress and keeps life manageable. Using similar tools and platforms isn’t just convenient—it’s one of the ways I keep my sanity.
